Consumer Products Practice

Consumer products are regulated to protect the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death. For instance, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) oversees the manufacture and sale of over 15,000 types of consumer products, addressing fire, electrical, chemical, and mechanical hazards, as well as dangers to children. The CPSC's strategies for reducing injury risks include:

  • Developing voluntary standards in collaboration with industry

  • Issuing and enforcing mandatory standards

  • Banning products if no standard provides adequate protection

  • Facilitating recalls and arranging for repairs, replacements, or refunds

  • Conducting research on potential product hazards

  • Educating consumers through media, state and local governments, and private organizations

Prologos Law Firm provides counsel to all participants in the supply chain for consumer products in U.S. interstate commerce, including design, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and retail. We also assist clients with enforcement issues related to the US Consumer Product Safety commission (CPSC).
